Celtic Tattoos are the most common Tribal Tattoo in Europe and America,
and are around 3,000 years old. At one time all of Europe was ruled by
Celts. They were generally well educated, particularly on topics such
as religion, philosophy and astronomy. The ancient Celtic Art was full
of interlacing patterns; elaborate knot work, spirals animal forms.
Celtic knots are complete loops with no ending or beginning. Their
style has a lot of interlacements, intricate weaves and similarity on
both sides... Modern Celtic people have evolved symbols for themselves.
The North American People of Celtic Descent often wear these symbols to
show that they are of Celtic descent.
The Celtic tattoos also have a Red dragon, which they considered as a
welsh symbol. With the influence of Christianity the monks of the
seventh century adapted Celtic form of art and the Celtic based cross
was developed. Thus the Cross tattoo, had its own identity, based on
Celtic cross.
People of Celtic origin consider getting a Celtic Tattoo as an
expression of their pride and Heritage. In recent years Celtic Tattoos
have enjoyed a revival. Celtic Tattoos are one of the most popular
design choices. With their intricate weave and such a wide variety of
art to choose from, it is no wonder that such a different array of
people have chosen it as their tattoo. The majority of the designs used
in Celtic tattoos come from illuminated manuscripts as well as ancient
art from Ireland, Scotland and England. Celtic tattoos also come in the
form of Flower Tattoos and with Geometric Designs. Celtic Tattoos have
unique style of Dragon tattoos.
Celtics were extremely passionate
people and they never followed any specific appeals or instructions.
That probably shows the intricacy of their designs. Their Maze and Step
Patterns almost look like angular spirals and may range from a few
simple complex labyrinth type designs. Step patterns appear to be made
up of combined Lego type blocks, joined to form tile like images.
People - men and women are both depicted in Celtic art, with various
hairstyles and clothing. Usually, their hair and limbs are knotted up
much like the knot work-interlace designs. People are drawn either in a
full front manner or in perfect profile, never in partial profile...
